The morning

Grab a coffee, get your name tag, and meet your partner.

  2. 8:30 AMWelcome and training

Why today matters, what to say, what to write down, and how to stay safe. Then you practice with your partner.

  3. 9:15 AMPackets and roll out

Pick up your walk list and meet your team leader. Your streets are a short drive away.

  4. 10:00 AMKnock doors

Two and a half hours with your partner on your assigned streets.

  5. 12:45 PMBack together

Turn in your list, share what you heard, and pick your next shift. Done by 1:00.

No experience needed

If you can say hello to a neighbor, you can do this.

You never walk alone.

Everyone works with a partner. First timers pair with someone who has knocked before.

Everything is handed to you.

A short script, your streets on paper or on your phone, palm cards and a clipboard.

Positive, and about Tim.

You share Tim's record and listen. Nobody argues at a door, and nobody talks about the other candidate.

Why your Saturday matters

This race will be decided by neighbors.

  • 3,117votes decided the last race for County Judge, in 2022.
  • 35,000votes is about what it takes to win on November 3.
  • Oct 19Early voting opens. Every door before then is a chance to earn a vote.

Questions

Good to know.

Do I need experience?

No. We train you on site, you practice with your partner, and a team leader is a text away all morning. Most people knocking on the 10th will be doing it for the first time.

Can I come to just one Saturday?

Yes. Pick one or both. Each morning stands on its own.

What do I say at the door?

You introduce yourself as a neighbor volunteering for Tim, ask what matters to them, and share why you support him. The script fits on one card, and you leave a palm card at every door.

Do I get a Shepard shirt?

Yes. Pick your size when you sign up and your shirt will be waiting at the sign-in table. Wear it on the doors so neighbors know who you are with.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes. Anyone under 18 walks with a parent or guardian.

What if it rains?

We knock in light rain. If the weather turns unsafe, we will text you by 7:00 AM.

I'm running late. Can I still come?

Yes. Walk lists go out until 10:30 AM. Come to the coffee shop and a team leader will get you set.

Where do we meet?

Meet at Dodo Coffee Co., 2568 W McMillan Dr. Look for the Shepard volunteers at the sign-in table.

Who is hosting the canvass?

This is a Tim Shepard campaign volunteer event. The October 17 meetup is at Dodo Coffee Co.
